Mahmood Schricker

Mahmood Schricker is a musician, producer, and founder of Link Music Lab, a Toronto-based artist collective and not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering Iranian-Canadian music through bold, genre-blending collaborations. Known for its forward-thinking initiatives such as Polotechnics and the Experimental Link Series, Link Music Lab serves as a creative hub that bridges communities and inspires innovation in music.

Born in Canada to Iranian and Austrian heritage, Schricker draws from his diverse background to create a unique sonic language. He is known for transforming the setar, a traditional Persian instrument, into an electronic medium—blending Persian melodies with ambient minimalism and deep dub textures.

His 2012 debut album Null (funded by the Ontario Arts Council) featured collaborations with celebrated Iranian-Canadian vocalists and received praise in Songlines. Schricker has since released several EPs and singles, along with two standout albums: El Muerte (2018), a haunting fusion of dub and fragile melodies, and Mount Dilaudid (2022), a further exploration of atmospheric soundscapes.

In film, Schricker has composed acclaimed scores for Babak Jalali’s Radio Dreams (2016) and Fremont (2023), with The Guardian noting his work on Fremont as “a sparse, loose-limbed jazz score that adds to the picture’s gauche charm.”
