A night of ‘different interpretation’ of an ancient tradition. The debut of a group formed specifically for this concert sees three of Toronto’s finest – Mahmood Schricker (electric setar), Demetrios Petsalakis (oud), Naghmeh Farahmand (tombak and percussion) – pooling their musical forces together.
Mahmood and Nima are back for a night of visuals and music inspired by the traditional Persian music for a night of ‘different interpretation’ of an ancient tradition. This is a continuation of the previous tour El Muerte that explored the concept of death; on this tour they play around the notion of birth or existence
Link Music Lab, Toronto’s premier presenter of contemporary Persian music, explores connections between identity, culture and musical creation with a new series contemplating the contemporary Persian-Canadian experience. Persian classical/traditional/folk music is re-explored and re-imagined at the Small World Music Centre. The goal of these sessions is to create a magic special to Toronto.
